I love BLTs.

They are one of my favorite sandwiches. They are simple and it’s really hard to mess them up.

Except people (and places) still do.

The bread is too toasted, the tomatoes are watery and gross, bacon is too crispy, etc.

I’ve worked VERY hard, VERY, VERY hard to make this recipe the best it possibly can be. My family endured a LOT of sandwiches during this process. Obviously not every one of these steps is necessary every time you make a sandwich, but this is the combo that I’ve found which works the best.

Make it and enjoy, please!!

Ingredients:

  • Your favorite bread (I used Trader Joe’s Multigrain)
  • Heirloom Tomatoes
  • Thick Cut Bacon
  • Arugula
  • Avocado
  • Mayo
  • White Balsamic Reduction
  • Oil & Spices: S&P, Garlic Salt, Red Pepper Flakes, Brown Sugar, Red Wine Vinegar, Lemon Juice

Tomatoes:

In a bowl, place sliced tomatoes & drizzle red wine vinegar, S&P, and let them sit. A few minutes before assembling your sandwich, take the slices out of the bowl and place on a paper towel to absorb excess moisture

Bacon:

Take 3 pieces of thick cut bacon (or however many you want) and cut in half to give you 6 pieces’ total. Put into a pan and lightly drizzle with brown sugar and black pepper on both sides. With a low heat, frequently flip and watch until both sides are golden brown. I enjoy chewier bacon on this sandwich. (I don’t like crunchy bacon) You can cook them to your preference!

Avocado Mash:

Slice avocado into a bowl and mash thoroughly. Add in S&P, garlic salt and mux together

Arugula Salad:

Take arugula and put into a bowl, drizzle with olive oil and add S&P, garlic salt, red pepper flakes and squeeze fresh lemon juice on top. Mix!

Assembly:

Spray your bread slices with avocado oil (or butter) and lightly toast. On one slice, spread your mayo and on the other slice, spread the avocado mash. Take your arugula salad and place on a slice of bread. Place your tomato slices on top of the lettuce and bacon slices on top of the tomato. Drizzle the white balsamic reduction across the bacon slices and top with your other slice of bread.

**Optional

Add your favorite chips to the middle of your sandwich for an added crunch!
